Paul’s dream has come true…The Tour de France is coming by to Yorkshire!!. He’ll tell anyone that the best riding in the world is in Yorkshire and now the Tour de France is in his backyard! Come and ride the ‘Lumpy’ roads of the north of England, the training grounds of Wiggins, the Yates brothers, Tom Pidcock and many more. We invite you to join us on this one off experience with our host Paul, who is itching to show you around the wild beauty of the North of England.
We will be lodging in cottages on the majestic grounds of Broughton Hall estate, nestled among hundreds of acres of rewilding land in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. You will be surrounded by peace and tranquility, only briefly interrupted by the bleat of a sheep, a rabbit scurrying hither and thither or the sound of bird song. The estate has two lovely pubs within walking distance, where you can sample a pint of the legendary Yorkshire bitter.
Before the pro peleton race through this enchanting landscapes, we will be riding the same roads among the Yorkshire Dales, the Ribble Valleyand the Lake District. Each region offers a unique riding experience – The North of England is full of beautiful old track roads, always heading up and down, weaving through gorgeous limestone villages. We may pass through some of Yorkshire’s most interestingly named villages – Crackpot, Wetwang, Upperthong, Fryup, Giggleswick, Booze, Blubberhouses, Wigglesworth and Wigtwizzle!”
We will have VIP access to watch the race unfold and in the evening we invite you to join us for dinner with special guest Brian Cookson. Brian was the head of the UCI and British racing, creating the biological passport as an industry standard. He was also influential in the success of a new generation of British riders coming through the ranks of the pro peloton.
We will be there in summer, so expect very long summer days, sunrise around 4.30am and sunset around 10:00pm – plenty of time to get acquainted with the stunning surrounds.
Modern day England can also boast some great modern classic cuisine – thanks in part to the local culinary enfant terrible – Marco Pierre White who hails from nearby Leeds. The UK also boasts some award winning white wines and sparkling wine… but of course I’m sure we’ll be sampling many fine ales too.
We look forward to a warm ‘Northern’ welcome!
