THE ALPS TDF EXPERIENCE
This is an experience that offers you a unique opportunity to ride the Tour de France Alpine giants that have graced the Tour De France for more than a century. These summits are part of the Tour de France folklore and their names summon memories of cycling legends – Coppi, Anquetil, Hinault & Merckx. This is without a doubt a huge challenge that will test your physical and mental limits, but naturally the rewards after a day ascending these giants always outweigh the effort
This epic journey takes us through the Savoie region, home to these legendary climbs. The start of this Experience starts at the turquoise waters of Annecy lake. Annecy will be our base for the first 3 days of this challenge, from where we are perfectly located to tackle the Col le Semnoz, Col de la Forcaz, Col de la Croix Fry, Col de la Colombiere and Col de L’Arpettaz but to name a few.
Annecy is a beautiful small city and after a hard day in the saddle, there are few better places in France to explore. Known as the ‘pearl of the French Alps’ it really is the perfect base to enjoy as much the off road activities as the climbs themselves.
The 2nd half of this Experience takes us south out of the Savoie region and into Isere region where more Tour de France summits lay ahead. Here we will base ourselves in the charming historical village of Le Monetier-les-bains. This is the optimal launch pad to choose some of the very best known Alpine climbs that include – Col Du Galibier, Col du Telegraphe, Col Du Granon, Col d’Izoard and of course ……the Alpe d’Huez.
But the over-riding take-away from these trips is the genuine camaraderie with fellow riders. Once you’ve been through these shared experiences of Elation, Suffering, Awe and ultimately Triumph – you truly establish a special bond with your cycling compadres. We personally believe the highlights are the post ride evenings sitting around the dinner table, enjoying great local hearty food & wine and replaying the day’s events with a healthy dose of chatter and humour… there is inevitably always lots of laughter.
Allow us take care of everything – so you can just focus on riding, eating hearty Alpine food and sharing this unique experience with your fellow riders.
The recipe is very simple – riding through idyllic mountainous landscapes with like minded friends, quality ride support & attention, and a generous sampling of the best local French food and wine…… what more does anyone need?
