We truly believe in the small details of your trip, with the focus on the support and attention. From the moment you arrive, you will be looked after by us with meticulous care throughout the entire journey – From the daily cleaned and serviced bike, the fully equipped support vehicle, freshly laundered kit service… to the chilled recovery shake handed to you at the end of your ride!

Our team consists of an experienced mechanic and knowledgeable professional guides. The support vehicle is always there for any eventuality, or a welcome haven if you need that rest. We also have local bi-lingual support for any incidents that require assistance, be that medical or administrative. Our ratio of staff to rider in the Pyrenees is generally 4 Girona Velo team members to 9 riders, with the assistance of 2 support vehicles.

THE CLASSIC PYRENEES

This is an experience that offers you a chance to ride the legendary Pyrenean peaks that have graced the Tour De France for more than a century. This is without a doubt a mammoth challenge that will test your physical and mental limits, but naturally the rewards after a day ascending these giants always outweigh the effort

This epic ‘point to point’ journey takes us through the Pyrenees mountains all the way to the golden sands of the beautiful seaside city of San Sebastian. The diversity of landscapes you will encounter along the way is truly striking – from tiny Pyrenean villages huddled onto ancient rock, vast sweeping valleys, towering mountain tops to the rugged beguiling beauty of the Basque country. But the over-riding take-away from these trips is the genuine camaraderie with fellow riders. Once you’ve been through these shared experiences of Elation, Suffering, Awe and ultimately Triumph – you truly establish a special bond with your cycling compadres. We personally believe the highlights are the post ride evenings sitting around the dinner table, enjoying great local hearty food & wine and replaying the day’s events with a healthy dose of chatter and humour… there is inevitably always lots of laughter.

The Girona Velo Pyrenees Classic Experiences is all about immersing ourselves in every aspect this region has to offer. Aside from these folkloric TdF summits, that could also be the seemingly small details that make the difference – a bidon top up at an iconic french water fountain in a quaint mountain village, a moment to briefly rest at a mountain summit and converse with a shepherd, a spontaneous stop at a village market to sample some Cabecou goats cheese with a hunk of prune bread, or rolling into a classic French cobbled-stoned village square for a well deserved coffee stop. These moments are never the same, but they always make a trip something really special.

It is no surprise that the Pyrenees has such an appeal for cyclists – with some of the most challenging summits and beautiful landscapes to ride among in the world. With our guides, we have designed an itinerary that gives you the very best of the Pyrenees; not just the classic TDF giants like the Col du Tourmalet but also some of the lesser known hidden gems that give you the complete Pyrenean experience.

Allow us take care of everything – so you can just focus on riding, eating hearty Pyrenean food and sharing this unique experience with your fellow riders.
The recipe is very simple – riding through idyllic mountainous landscapes with like minded friends, quality ride support & attention, and a generous sampling of the best local food and wine…… what more does anyone need?
